INTRODUCTORY VERSE EXAMINATION OF CONSCIENCE

A brief examination of conscience is made.

Hebdomadarian: I confess to almighty God, *

All: to blessed Mary ever-Virgin, to blessed Dominic our Father, to all the Saints, and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault: I ask you to pray for me.

Hebdomadarian: May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins, free us from all evil, keep us safe and strengthen us in every good work, and bring us to eternal life.

All: Amen.

Prayer in distress
Only by faith in Jesus Christ is man made holy in God's sight.
No observance of the law can achieve this (Galatians 2:16).

¹ O LORD, listen to my prayer; *
turn your ear to my appeal.
You are faithful, you are just; give an∙swer. †
² Do not call your servant to judg∙ment,*
for in your sight no one liv∙ing is jus∙tified.

³ The enemy pursues my soul; *
he has crushed my life to the ground.

and drive far from it all snares of the enemy;

(English: Hail, O Queen of heavens! Hail, O Mistress of angel hosts! Hail, O Root (of Jesse)! Hail, O Gate! From whom came forth Light for the world. Rejoice, O glorious Virgin, fair beyond all others. Farewell, O excelling beauty, pray for us to Christ.)

V. Permit us to sing your praises, holy Virgin.

R. Mother of God, intercede for us.

Hebdomadarian:
V. Grant, we pray, Lord God, that we, your servants,
may rejoice in unfailing health of mind and body,
and, through the glorious intercession of Blessed Mary ever-Virgin,
may be set free from present sorrow
and enjoy eternal happiness.

R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

that we who are weighed down by the burden of our sins,
may be relieved through the patronage of the Blessed Dominic,
