INTRODUCTORY VERSE EXAMINATION OF CONSCIENCE

A brief examination of conscience is made.

Hebdomadarian: I confess to almighty God, *

All: to blessed Mary ever-Virgin, to blessed Dominic our Father, to all the Saints, and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault: I ask you to pray for me.

Hebdomadarian: May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins, free us from all evil, keep us safe and strengthen us in every good work, and bring us to eternal life.

All: Amen.

PSALMODY

Antiphon 1

Psalm 4
Thanksgiving
The resurrection of Christ was God's supreme and wholly marvelous work (Saint Augustine).

2 I called, the God of justice gave me an∙swer; *
from anguish you released me, have mer ∙cy and hear me!

3 Children of man, how long will my glory be dis∙hon∙ored, *
will you love what is futile and seek what is false?

4 Know that the LORD works wonders for his faith∙ful one; *
the LORD will hear me whenev ∙er I call him.

5 Tremble, do not sin: ponder on your bed and be still. *
6 Offer right sacrifice, and trust in the LORD.

7 “What can bring us happiness?” many say. *
Lift up the light of your face on us, O LORD.

8 You have put into my heart a greater joy *
than abundance of grain and new wine can pro∙vide.

9 In peace I will lie down and fall a∙sleep, *
for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safe∙ty.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spir∙it:
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. A∙men.

Antiphon 1

Antiphon 2

Psalm 134 (133)
Evening prayer in the temple
Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, small and great. (Revelation 19:5).

1 O come, bless the LORD, *
all you servants of the LORD,

who stand by night in the courts *
of the house of the LORD.

2 Lift up your hands to the holy place, *
and bless the LORD.

3 May the LORD bless you from Si∙on,
he who made both heaven and earth.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spir∙it:
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. A∙men.

Antiphon 2

READING - Deuteronomy 6:4-7
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD; and you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. And these words which I command you this day shall be upon your heart; and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
